The Best Gift Ever

Did you know it's a popular thing to share what you got for Christmas after the New Year on YouTube? Yep, it is. I decided to share what I got for Christmas right here on the BWET blog, but I'm going to put my on twist on it.....

THE BEST GIFT EVER

It is impossible to guess the day we start gift shopping for Christmas and New Year every year.  There is growing excitement and anticipation for giving and receiving gifts during this season. This excitement causes some of us to behave like children once a year.
Unfortunately, everyone does not celebrate Christmas or share the experience of the Lord Jesus Christ like we do.  Some simply choose not to. Others don’t believe in Jesus and others live in communities or countries where celebrating the Lord Jesus Christ anytime is a crime for which you could be beaten, imprisoned or murdered.

As a naïve young boy, I got up Christmas morning and ran to the Christmas tree looking for gifts.  If it snowed that night, I would go outside and check our roof and yard looking for evidence that Santa had visited our home.  I remember the year Dad took me shopping with him a week before Christmas.  Little did I know my father was about to teach me a true-life lesson about Santa Claus.  I learned that Dad made sure our family had Christmas gifts under the tree and that Santa Claus lived in our home, not the North Pole.

Normally when we got home, Dad and I took the shopping bags into the living room and placed them on the couch or the dining room table.  This time, Dad hid the gifts until they were wrapped and placed under the Christmas tree. Suddenly, I began to feel very grown-up in an odd way.  In one day, I learned that my father was Santa Claus, provider, Dad and husband, and a wonderful teacher of the truth.

Like Dad, my pastor, Bishop Andrew C. Jackson, revealed another great gift of truth to me, Jesus Christ. Bishop Jackson introduced the Lord Jesus to me through God’s word. He preached Jesus so passionately until I believed the Gospel, prayed, repented and was baptized as Jesus taught in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles.  Finally, I was filled with the Holy Spirit just like the Apostles, their families and friends in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost in (Acts chapter 2). On an awesome March day in 1971, I met Jesus Christ, the greatest gift I have ever known.  He is my Savior, my Lord, my friend, the Chief Shepherd and Bishop of my soul, my God and my soon coming King!

You may have received some AWESOME gifts for Christmas. Or maybe you didn’t. But the greatest gift that anyone can receive on Christmas Day and every other day of the year is Jesus Christ. Yes! Jesus Christ is the Best Gift Ever. He can be this and more to you too.  What are you waiting for?  You have nothing to lose and Eternity to gain with him.  Listen, he is calling you!  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NKJV).

Jesus, the greatest gift ever is waiting for you.

SPECIAL NOTES:
I, Bishop Earnest Robinson Sr., want to let all furloughed federal workers and others negatively affected by the government shut down know that you are in my prayers and the prayers of the entire BWET church family. Having served my country and retired honorably from the US Army, I am sensitive to your plight. We are also praying for President Trump and our US Congress that the shut down end SPEEDILY and that issues causing the shut down are resolved in the best interest of our country.

I also am wishing everyone a peaceful day as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A CALL TO ACTION:
Please, let’s help our neighbors. What gift can you give to anyone that you know negatively affected by the government shut down? Let’s dialogue and share ideas below.
